Where to stay along the Heritage Highway

When thinking of the Heartlands of Tasmania, a cosy stay in the country is often one of the first things that comes to mind. 

Wide open spaces, peacefully grazing animals and warm fireplaces are just a few of the key ingredients that make up the perfect stay on the Heritage Highway. If you’re not sure where to begin, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with a list of some tried and trusted stays that won’t leave you disappointed.

The Granary, Richmond Hill, Cressy

If you’re traveling with a group, the whole family, or, just want to indulge in a little luxury, look no further than The Granary, Richmond Hill. Tucked away in the Northern Midlands, this grand yet cosy countryside escape has a special warmth to it that makes for an unforgettable experience. The old sandstone barn was originally built by convicts and has been beautifully restored with all the amenities you need to stay a little or a long while.

For a truly unique experience, stay in a UNESCO World Heritage-listed cottage at Brickendon Estate. It’s an incredible way to immerse yourself in the past and experience first-hand what life was like in the 1820s and 1830s.

The lovingly restored Coachmans Cottage, Old Farm Cottage and Gardeners Cottage are all available to book and offer an authentic colonial experience with modern comforts. Alternatively, the three Brickendon Farm cottages offer great farm views and are only a short walk away from the Farm Village, making it great for families or groups.
